I felt the most absolute satisfied with my life about this time last year when I was on my missions trip in guatemala. After a few months of prepping, to actually be in the environment, away from home and in a culture that is so different, you really have to put everything on the line to get the most out of the situation. so i let go of all of my “american-isms” and just dived into the culture, where i then got to help workers in the community, play games with children in the village, and pray alongside of some of the most incredible people i’ve ever met. in this, there was a moment where i just took a moment to try to grasp everything at once, and when i looked at the scene in front of me: kids playing jumprope with my best friend, kids i knew from home who were trying their best to communicate with other workers to get the job done, my youth pastor talking to a 70 year old woman about her life, and a group of kids drawing their names in the dirt, which we had taught them a few hours before, had to be the most satisfying feeling in the world. just being able to not only feel that you are making a difference, but actually SEEING your work change the lives of others. wow. amazing.
